Clay fired without glaze; with terracotta what you see is what the earth produced - the warm ochre and sienna tones that come from iron in the soil, the matte surface that holds light rather than reflecting it. Our natural terracotta pots are made on the Greek islands of Sifnos and Crete, where potters have worked with the local clay for centuries.
