Glazed Ceramics

The glaze tradition in Margarites, Crete runs back to the Minoans - one of the oldest continuous pottery cultures in Europe. The colours used today are the same colours that have defined the village for centuries: the warm white of plaster walls, amber of harvest-season light, deep blue of the distant sea. Each piece is hand-thrown and dipped or painted by hand, so the glaze sits differently on every surface. No two pieces are the same, the variation intentional.
