Round Jug I

A generous, round-bodied terracotta jug with a single handle and a band of hand-etched undulating lines decorating the shoulder - functional in origin, considered in form. Set on any table, shelf or sideboard, it's ideally suited to hold dried stems or to stand alone as a quietly sculptural object. Made by artisan ceramicists in Crete from fired clay, using methods rooted in the island's long pottery tradition.

This piece is unglazed earthenware - unsealed inside and intended for dried botanicals or decorative use rather than water. As with all handmade ceramics, slight variations in form, texture, and surface are an inherent part of the process - no two pieces leave the kiln the same, and these marks of the maker's hand are what make each piece its own.
