Loop-Handle Amphora I
A pale terracotta amphora of classical proportions - rounded body, narrow neck, two small loop handles, a flared lip - rendered in a warm, sandy colour wash over the natural clay. One of the oldest forms in Mediterranean pottery. Suited as a vase for dried stems, placed on a mantelpiece, or grouped with other pieces. Handmade in Crete from fired clay using traditional Greek pottery methods.
This piece is unglazed earthenware - unsealed inside and intended for dried flowers, or decorative use rather than water. As with all handmade ceramics, slight variations in form, texture, and surface are an inherent part of the process - no two pieces leave the kiln the same, and these marks of the maker's hand are what make each piece its own.
